In the talk, a recently developed semiclassical nonperturbative approach based on the Dirac equation for calculation of differential
cross sections in ion-atom collisions will be presented. The results obtained for various cross sections in collisions with hydrogen
as well as lithium ion targets will be discussed. An outlook for calculations of the processes accompanying collisions involving heavy
targets will be given.
